I found this book to be fascinating and one that I truly recommend to anybody exploring the desert southwest. In some ways, it is similar to book The Secret Knowledge of Water.
This is a book I wish I would have known about when I first began exploring the desert on my own. It covers every aspect of desert bighorn sheep survival and management that I can think of.

I found this to be a valuable and unique book. It is much more than just a list of edible plants; it delves into the true nature of what it takes to be a gatherer. When one takes into account all the books about hunting and fishing, one finds that they are numerous.
This book could be viewed in many different ways, as a history book, an adventure book, or a book about various places in the Southwest. And it is certainly all that! However, for me it is a book about two people leaving the modern world and going back to a nomadic way of life.
