Sheep Crossing

Oct 07, 2016
Desert bighorn sheep gather at this little point of rocks before they attempt to cross the wide open desert to another mountain range. They have been doing this for untold ages. There are only a few glyphs here and none of them are bighorn sheep or atlatl

Sheep at water

Oct 07, 2016
When this water hole is full it can be 7 or 8 feet deep and last for months. In this picture the sheep are drinking the last of the water and they will have to find water somewhere else to survive the summer. I wrote an article on this place and you can find it on the website titled, A Hike In The Mojave Desert

Shape Shift

Oct 07, 2016
The one in the left looks as though you're looking down on a skinned out bighorn sheep. And the one on the right looks like a human trying to take on that form. It's hard to say just what this is or what it meant, but perhaps it's trying to indicate some sort of transformation shape shifting if you will.

Sea of granite

Oct 07, 2016
In a sea of white granite. One of the few pieces of lava rock has all the glyphs

Scrap Lumber

Oct 07, 2016
Back in the day this is what you would call scrap lumber, it wasn't worth dragging out of the forest.

Running Ram

Oct 07, 2016
A fantastic shot on a running ram I wrote an entire article on this glyph that you’ll find on the website the title is The Moment

Root Chamber

Oct 07, 2016
This is another petroglyph that I believe to be a water hemlock. I believe this is a drawing or picture of its underground root or bulb that contains the most concentrated poison in the vertical root chambers, but such things we will never know for sure.

Rock Solid

Oct 07, 2016
Sometimes you can be on a rock solid foundation and at the same time you are on the ragged edge

Rock Landscape

Oct 07, 2016
When you walk the desert alone and in silence you can truly enjoy the beauty and the mystery of it all

River Run

Oct 07, 2016
Running in the river running wild.

Rams in the rocks

Oct 07, 2016
At a distance sometimes you can mistake a ram for a rock or a rock for a ram

Ram Strength

Oct 07, 2016
Through the ages the ram has been a universal symbol for strength and masculinity

Ram and Ewe

Oct 07, 2016
These are two desert bighorn sheep and they are very typical of a mature ram and a mature ewe.

Rainbows

Oct 07, 2016
Sometimes when you’re out the desert you come to realize you’re just out chasing rainbows on an endless road to nowhere.

Ragged Ram

Oct 07, 2016
A ragged old ram in a harsh and forbidding land. In such a place you do what you have to do, even if you have to walk out onto the salt flat when it’s 115° to get a drink of water, soon this ram will be in the steep and rocky terrain where he belongs.
